During the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina, Slovakia will bring a unique cultural event to the heart of Milan. On Wednesday, February 18, at Casa Slovacca—the Slovak Olympic House located in the historic Galleria Meravigli—the world premiere of the feature film CHAMPION will take place, celebrating one of Slovakia's greatest sports icons, the figure skating legend Ondrej Nepela.
CHAMPION tells the gripping biographical story of the Olympic gold medalist who became a symbol of his generation and an icon in the world of figure skating. Nepela won gold at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo and remains one of Slovakia's most prominent sports figures in history.
Joining the film's creators at the world premiere in Casa Slovacca will be actors Adam Kubala (playing Nepela) and Jana Nagyová (Hilda Múdra), widely recognized by the public as Princess Arabela.
The filmmakers have just released the official trailer for this project, which combines a stellar cast, top-level sports, and world-class visual effects. Director Jakub Červenka presents a dynamic sports drama set during the 1973 World Championships in Bratislava.
Adam Kubala stars as Ondrej Nepela, and the film uses a unique technological approach that merges the actor's performance with the real skills of a professional figure skater, blurring the line between sport and cinema for the audience.
The premiere of CHAMPION will be a highlight of Casa Slovacca's cultural program during the Olympics. The organizers warmly invite all Slovaks living in Italy, sports and culture fans, and visitors to Milan not to miss this special evening.
