Slovakia presented its National Day at Casa Slovacca in Milan

On Thursday, February 12, Slovakia celebrated its National Day at Casa Slovacca, the Slovak Olympic House in the heart of Milan. Visitors enjoyed Slovak folk majolica and beautiful ceramic paintings throughout the day, along with traditional folk costumes from the Liptov region. The Zemplín folklore ensemble created a lively atmosphere with their music and dance performances. President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, visited Casa Slovacca on Thursday evening during the event.

The Slovak Olympic House attracts many visitors. About half have been Slovaks, while the other half are international guests, including local Italians.

"I believe only about ten countries have their own National Day here at the Olympics in Italy, and Slovakia is one of them. I'm very proud of this, because when I look at the atmosphere here at Casa Slovacca and see how wonderful it is, we definitely have nothing to be ashamed of. Today, I also visited our hockey players in the Olympic Village and congratulated them on their success. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we continue our winning streak tomorrow against Italy and on Saturday against Sweden," said President Peter Pellegrini to the press at Casa Slovacca today.

"Visitors are not only drawn to the diverse program here at Casa Slovacca but also to our Slovak cuisine. Popular dishes include bryndzové halušky, classic fried cheese with fries, kapustové strapačky, and other traditional Slovak meals," said Matej Fekete, CEO of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL.

Guests at Casa Slovacca could participate in interactive sports activities, enjoy Slovak folklore, and attend a concert by the Happyband Orchestra.

Throughout the day, live broadcasts of winter Olympic events were shown on the large screen, along with films about Slovakia.

The evening culminated in a Slovak reception attended by the highest state officials, led by President Peter Pellegrini, along with other distinguished guests.

The National Day showcased Slovakia as a country of sport, culture, and tradition on the international stage.

Casa Slovacca remains open throughout the Winter Olympics until February 22.
