Slovakia Opens Casa Slovacca in Milan, Connecting Sport, Culture and Tourism

Slovakia today ceremonially opened its national presentation on the occasion of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy, titled “Casa Slovacca.”
Located in the heart of Milan, the Slovak House will serve throughout the Games as a venue where Slovakia presents itself to the world during this major sporting celebration as a modern, authentic, and responsible country, naturally connecting sport and tourism. The national presentation was organized by the national tourism promotion organization SLOVAKIA TRAVEL in cooperation with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee.

The ceremonial opening of Casa Slovacca was attended by the President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini, the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, the Minister of Tourism and Sports Rudolf Huliak, three-time World Champion in cycling and Slovak national representative Peter Sagan, as well as other distinguished guests.

“I am very pleased that the Slovak Olympic House—something people from other countries have also noted—is among the most beautiful at this Winter Olympics. It will provide facilities not only for our female and male Olympians and the members of our delegation, but throughout the entire Olympic Games it will also serve as a presentation of the Slovak Republic that we can be proud of. I invite all Slovaks traveling to the Olympics to visit Casa Slovacca. With today’s opening, we have once again shown that we have much to offer, and I am immensely proud of that,”
said President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini.

Czech President Petr Pavel welcomed the connection of the two nations at the ceremonial opening of the Olympic House; both presidents had already ceremonially opened the Czech Olympic House the day before.

“I wish all Olympians the very best of luck at the Games and hope they achieve excellent results. We will strive to support them as well as possible within the existing opportunities. I am also pleased with the national presentation Casa Slovacca under the auspices of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, which represents a dignified venue for showcasing Slovakia at such an important event as the Winter Olympic Games. I believe that thanks to this presentation, Slovakia will be excellently promoted and our inbound tourism will also be supported,”
said Rudolf Huliak, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Slovak Republic.

“We worked on this project meticulously and systematically for many months. I would like to thank the entire team for their work and dedication. I am pleased with the result and believe that we have created a dignified presentation of Slovakia at this prestigious international event. It is a strategic investment with a long-term reputational impact, which I believe will help support inbound tourism to Slovakia,”
summarized Matej Fekete, Director General of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL.

Slovak cyclist Peter Sagan sent the following message to Slovakia’s representatives at the Olympic Games:

“Dear Olympians, we truly appreciate that you are here at the Olympics and that you will proudly represent us. All of Slovakia is cheering for you, and I wish you as many great results as possible,”
said Peter Sagan.

The opening was also attended by Slovak Olympians, including members of the national ice hockey team, who are among the most prominent faces of the Slovak delegation.
